Lights to Stay On Always

Lights to Stay On Always

Purpose

The OR LCS by default turns off in the absence of any occupancy. However, there may be some cases where it is intended to keep the lights on to;

  • Conduct testing
  • Enable security lighting on certain luminaires

All On Always Personality

It is beneficial to understand here that "All On Always" personality is meant to keep the lights on even in absence of any occupancy. This personality enables all the lights with this personality and in a zone to output maximum light level (100%) irrespective of occupancy & its distance from the occupancy event. If there are 100 luminaires in a zone with this personality all the lights would turn on at 100% all the time.

How to keep a luminaire/s to stay on always

In order to achieve this outcome access the ResponseApp from your smartphone or device, you would also require an IR dongle and access to configurator level in the app to make configuration changes. Once set up kindly follow the following steps to achieve the outcome;

  1. Go to light output menu from the right-hand side menu in the ResponseApp
  2. Go to a dimming level
    1. Here you can choose any non-zero level to which you would like the luminaires to stay on in absence of any occupancy
  3. Once selected you can choose to relay this dimming level if you wish to change the settings for all luminaires in the same zone or skip if it is for an individual luminaire
  4. Now scroll down and select "Set Min Light Level" option.
  5. You may choose to relay here is you wish to apply the same settings for the whole zone or skip relay if applying this on an individual luminaire
  6. You may also wish to repeat the above steps if you wish the lights to not go to a low light state and change the low light levels in a similar manner.
  7. Once changed these parameters, remember to scroll down the menu and save settings if you intend this to be defined as the default operation mode for your lighting. Similarly, you may choose to "relay" the save option if you are defining this behavior for all the luminaires in a zone.

To summarize you are making configuration changes to change the low light levels and minlight levels for a luminaire or all luminaire in a zone such that they never turn off in absence of an occupant. Remember changing the low light and min light values would force the lights to stay on always and would only turn off when the power to luminaires is disconnected. The above steps can be reverted back by simply choosing the different light levels (e.g. 0% to be set as min light etc.) while following the same steps above.

It is useful to revisit the image below to understand the control philosophy behind max, min and low light times.
