A single sensor can solve a diverse set of problems

“A school of fish moves effortlessly and in complete harmony with nature, with individual fish continuously making small decisions in response to the actions of their immediate neighbours and the environment. Each fish is smart enough to operate independently, yet is part of an elegantly flexible system of Distributed Intelligence that solves complex problems easily within the need for centralised control.”

Inspired by this idea, Organic Response has developed a completely wireless "plug & play" lighting control system that allows each individual luminaire to make lighting decisions based on the presence of occupants in its immediate vicinity, ambient light levels, and information it recieves from its neighbouring luminaires. It then contribues information back to the luminaire community, so other luminaires can also make more informed lighting decisions. Although they make decisions individually, the Distributed Intelligence architecture means all the lights in the space act as a coordinated community. Just like a school of fish.

At the heart of this uniquely flexible system is the Sensor Node, which is integrated into each luminaire during assembly within the factory. Once it is Organic Response-enabled, the luminaire is transformed into an intelligent light, ready to adapt and respond to the needs of its users.

Welcome!

Welcome to Organic Response Documentation!

The Organic Response documentation space is designed to be a single source of truth for usage of the Organic Response suite. In this guide you’ll find detailed instructions which describe how to use each product and function of Organic Response, along with simple graphics and visualisations to help illustrate how the many different systems work together.

When linking through to this guide you’ll often land on this introductory page. To get you familiarised with the space kindly review the sections described below and details about how to navigate them.

  1. The left “navigation pane” following the Documentation page includes all chapters and sub sections of this guide, which replicates the structure of the original Organic Response User Guide. This navigation pane can be collapsed and reopened using the arrow shown to the right of “Documentation“ in the picture below. When you click on any of the pages from the navigation page it will immediately take you to the relevant section/chapter.

  2. You can also click on the down arrow next to each page/chapter to open all the sub pages, and then click on any one of those pages to read its content.

  3. All the information from user guide will be made available here and will always be kept up to date through this channel.

  4. The top right hand side as well as search bar embedded within the parent page will allow you to search for any key words across the guide. For example, upon searching for “EnOcean” the page will show you all the suggestions and relevant chapters that include the “EnOcean” key word.

  5. The top bar menu option is always included on any site hosted using the Confluence platform, such as this guide. This menu has default options such as “Home“, “Spaces”, and others which are not usable without having a licensed Confluence account. As a read only user you can click on them but they won’t allow you to create new pages, and are not required to read and refer to this documentation.

  6. More menu/options are available by clicking on the “3 dots“ button at the top right of every page. This menu includes the only way to export the entire guide to a single PDF file, using the “Export with Scroll PDF Exporter”. Which allows you to “export” and download the whole document or page for local use if required.

NOTE FOR MOBILE USERS: If you are viewing this space on mobile phone, then the navigation pane will not be visible. In order to enable the navigation pane go to your browser options/settings while the page is open and look for an option to enable desktop version of the website e.g. in chrome settings you can see option for “Desktop site“.
