6.0 Troubleshooting sensor nodes with lag in colour temperature changes

6.1. Problem

If you see a delay of one minute in color temperature changes while dimming level changes instantly this can be caused due to a configuration change recently introduced in the DT8 drivers.

The testing carried out showed that OSRAM drivers, Tridonic drivers and VOSSLOH-SCHWABE (VS) drivers cause a 1-minute delay in changing the colour temperature while switching scenes. Where scenes are configured to have different colour temperature values along with light output changes.

6.2. Resolution

As a resolution for this issue, we recommend to set up the automatic activation bit to 0 prior to any use of the DT8 Activate command.

The best time to do this is during the driver configuration stage before integration so that their automatic activation bit is set to 0 at the time of initial startup. This means the driver configuration should be done before connecting the sensor node if you plan to continue using the tunable white drivers with the release version of PIC 185 & Nordic 21 or lower.

For example for Tridonic drivers at hand kindly refer to the following document to reconfigure the affected drivers and use the DT8 disable automatic activation (broadcast).cot file attached needs to be used during the process.

With the release 23 MAY 2022 (Firmware PIC 186 & Nordic 22) : We will include a logic to set the Automatic Activation Bit to 0. With new logic you will not require any further driver configuration as it will be done automatically at the time of inital boot up by sensor node.
