Gateway Configuration & Required Information

As a result of recent transition from the way the IoT gateways are delivered we have included all different types of gateways and the processes we think will need to be put in place at the time of ordering them now through Fagerhult China. Since the gateways are configured differently for different requirements it would be important to have an understanding of the required information as outlined below for your upcoming gateway orders and project needs.

Normal Cascade Gateways

These are your normal DHCP gateways which are currently delivered only having gateway ID information in addition to their serial numbers. These gateways are configured by OR at FH China and delivered by FH China with all default configuration parameters and dynamic IP addresses. They are ready to be installed on site and would work out of box even if they require an upgrade which can be done easily at the time of installation as long as they are online. 

OR Required Information When placing order for these gateways you don't need to specify anything to us apart from the quantity of gateways.

Please note that for any static IP configuration we can assign the static IP anytime while they are online either at the time of dispatch or at the time of installation. When a static IP is assigned these gateways will only be brought online if they are installed in the correct network. Please share the necessary information outlined here with FH China at the time of placement of order if static IPs are required.

OR Required Information When placing order for such gateways you only need to specify the static IP requirements in addition to the quantity of gateways if you require the configuration done at the time of dispatch.

As of Mar 2023 all gateways are by default shipped with stack 5. Please specify if you require gateways to be ordered as stack 4 or stack 3 at the time of ordering.

BACnet Gateways

These gateways require not only static IP but also need a separate building generated which would have all the area information necessary for the project populated in the building BACnet and gateway pages before we can carry out any configuration. The necessary prerequisites are outlined here. If the project require BACnet gateways and you require these to be configured at the time of dispatch then the following process will need to be followed,

  1. Generate a request for a new building or allocate an already created building for the BACnet project.

  2. Place an order specifying that BACnet gateways are required with Fagerhult China

  3. FH China will require to allocate BACnet gateways as many required for a specific project and share serial numbers of those allocated gateways with you.

  4. You can then add these gateways to the building and assign BACnet areas.

  5. Once ready Fagerhult China can specify the same list and building name with us for us to carry out configuration of these gateways.

  6. Once configured we will confirm the serial numbers, gateway IDs and static IP addresses assigned for these gateways. Fagerhult China will require to add static IP for the gateways to allow allocation and installation of these gateways.

OR Required Information: We would require information of building name which already has all the information for BACnet populated as well serial numbers of all the gateways which are allocated for the project. If any gateway is to be added in future or if you are unsure we recommend to carry out the configuration for BACnet at a later stage by bringing them online.

NOTE: If the above information is not available at the time of placing order then the gateways can only be dispatched with normal DHCP configuration. Once all the necessary information becomes available the gateways will need to be brought online at your premises or at the time of installation as DHCP to allow us to configure them as BACnet gateways.

Securitas BACnet Gateway

These gateways can be configured with preset configuration parameters as agreed upon and standardised for all single gateway installations. All gateways for securitas will take the default configuration profile for "GW 1" unless specified otherwise in future.

OR Required Information OR only need to know the quantity and keyword "Securitas" mentioned when a request for configuration of any such gateways is requested. Therefore it is recommended that Fagerhult China is made aware if the gateways are required to be configured for Securitas.

4G Gateways (Preliminary/Ad Hoc)

This gateway can’t be configured at the time of dispatch as it requires a sim card installed at the time of configuration. As the heading suggest these gateways are not offered as standard and FH China also doesn’t hold any stock for these. They would need to be attained as a special order.

We have recently tested and have successfully configured 4G cascade gateways which can be used for some ad hoc usage such as temporary installations or OTAP. These gateways will be reliant on the cellular coverage for the carrier that is entirely dependent on the quality of the network provider. We have carried out testing for only this version of gateway "Cascade-500-W LTE Gateway" (Cascade-500-X alternate SKU).

OR Required Information: Since this gateway requires a SIM card installed before it can be configured, it will be impossible to have the gateway configured at the time of dispatch in China. Kindly place an order and make arrangements to have this gateway brought online as DHCP at your premises along with a sim card installed and information is required in addition to normal Cascade gateways (please contact us through service desk in case you are placing an order with FH China).
