4.0 Troubleshooting issues related to EnOcean Switches

If your installation includes EnOcean switches we recommend you to follow the guidelines in the User guide and EnOcean wall switch set up to minimize the problems that you could encounter in the future.

It is very important to not use an EnOcean switch with unknown configuration from another location to avoid any discomfort. It is recommended to always configure an EnOcean switch prior to using it in a new installation by configuring it as switch ID paired mode with specific nodes. Avoid using zone pairing in large spaces that has the same zones for large open office areas.

4.1 Cannot pair a node with the EnOcean Switch

Kindly note that EnOcean wall switch ID pairing is only supported by the firmware version from 181. Therefore, please query the firmware version to make sure the sensor nodes are compatible with EnOcean switches.

Using OR / OR Express App, go to menu → Query → Firmware version

If the nodes have a lower firmware version please contact ORT to plan for an upgrade.

If the node cannot be paired with the EnOcean, please check the following points:

  • Make sure the EnOcean is configured to Switch ID pairing mode. You can always query (read) the current EnOcean settings if you are not sure.

  • Delete any previously paired EnOcean addresses from the node by clicking on “Reset to Default” from the Node Interface Page then do the pairing. Please note that a sensor node can only be paired with a maximum of 2 EnOcean switches at a time. Hence, if the pairing is not successful, this sensor node might be already paired to another two switches and “Reset to Default” will resolve the problem.

4.2 EnOcean switch controls the nodes from other rooms

Another common problem is EnOcean switches controlling nodes that are not intended to be controlled by the given switch. This could possibly happen due to one of the following reasons;

  1. EnOcean switch is configured for a zone which is repeated in other rooms

  2. EnOcean switch is not configured for switch ID pairing mode

  3. A node from a different zone is accidentally paired with the switch

Kindly refer to this article https://organicresponse.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DOC/pages/2727051393 to understand how to resolve the mentioned problems and have a comprehensive understanding on how the different configurations can affect the mode of operation.
