EnOcean switch controls the nodes from other rooms
EnOcean switch can control sensor nodes from different zones or different rooms and this can happen due to one of the following reasons
EnOcean switch is not configured for a zone
If no zone is selected the wall switch will control all luminaires in its direct communication range that can go up to 15 meters (indicative only) line of sight (LOS).
With the release of Feb 2024, the EnOcean switch configuration is no longer available in Organic Response IR app. Although you will see the EnOcean Wall Switch Setup option in the menu, clicking on it will directly take you to the ResponseApp.
If you are using an Android device and would like to download the IR App with EnOcean functionality, kindly follow the outlined steps in 6.0 IR App Compatibility | 6.2 How to download the APK file for IR App on Android devices
Solution : The “Zone Pairing” mode
Zone pairing mode will allow the switch to be paired for one zone and control that zone.
Response IR App - Go to ‘EnOcean Wall Switch Setup’ (this will take you to the Home page of ResponseApp)→follow the steps in OR Express app as mentioned below;
ResponseApp - Go to “EnOcean Switch” from the home screen → Configure the switch to Zone pairing mode → Select a zone → Press ‘Configure’ → Tap and hold the device next to the switch → Done
Response IR App (Downloaded from APK) - Go to ‘EnOcean Wall Switch Setup’ → Configure the switch to zone pairing mode → Select a Zone → Press ‘Configure’ ->Tap and hold the device next to the switch → Done
EnOcean switch is not configured for switch ID pairing mode
EnOcean wall switches use RF communication and it can reach longer distances.
For an environment where zone IDs get repeated it is possible the farther zones with the same zone ID to receive the control message from the EnOcean switch and relay the command using IR communication if the switch is configured via zone paired mode.
Solution : The “Switch ID pairing” mode when “one-to-one pair“ is toggled OFF
A switch ID pairing mode would allow the switch to be paired to one or more nodes. Any node paired in this mode would not only act upon the command it would receive from a paired switch but would also be responsible for relaying the message to its zone.
Response IR App - Go to ‘EnOcean Wall Switch Setup’ (this will take you to the Home page of OR Express App)→follow the steps in OR Express app as mentioned below;
ResponseApp - Go to “EnOcean Switch” from the home screen → Configure the switch by selecting switch id pairing mode → Configure functions for buttons → Ensure one-to-one is toggled OFF → Press ‘Configure’ → Tap and hold the device next to the switch.
Choose “Configure Nodes”→ select the node →go to “EnOcean Node interface → click on “Prepare to pair” → Click any of the buttons 3 times on the EnOcean switch that has been configured for “Switch ID Paired” mode.
Response IR App (Downloaded from APK) - Go to ‘EnOcean Wall Switch Setup’ → Configure the switch by selecting switch id pairing mode → Configure functions for buttons → Ensure one-to-one is toggled OFF → Press ‘Configure’ → Tap and hold the device next to the switch. .
Click the “Node Interface” option → click on “Prepare to pair” while pointing the dongle towards the sensor node you are currently trying to pair to an EnOcean switch → Click any of the buttons 3 times on the EnOcean switch that has been configured for “Switch ID Paired” mode.
A node from a different zone is accidentally paired with the switch
It is possible that the EnOcean wall switch is configured to switch ID pairing mode and one of the nodes from a different zone was accidentally paired with the switch. So the node receives the control commands from the EnOcean wall switch and it relays the command to the other nodes in the zone.
Solution : Locate the node accidentally paired with this EnOcean wall switch and unpair
Configure for one to one paired mode.
Response IR App - Go to ‘EnOcean Wall Switch Setup’ (this will take you to the Home page of ResponseApp)→follow the steps in OR Express app as mentioned below;
ResponseApp/Response IR App (Downloaded from APK) - Go to menu → EnOcean Wall Switch→ Configure the switch with “one to one pair” mode (by pressing one-to-one pair toggle button in app). This would allow one or all the nodes that have been paired to a particular switch to act upon command from that switch without the relay.
Response IR App (Downloaded from APK) -
Send the off command from the EnOcean wall switch, worth to note that this is only applicable if you have configured an off function on the switch in previous step.
Locate which nodes receive the commands and turns off the lights. If the luminaires were in normal operation in that area and were already triggered by motion you can easily spot one or more lights that would turn off.
Unpair or reset the node
Response IR App - Go to ‘EnOcean Wall Switch Setup’ (this will take you to the Home page of ResponseApp)→follow the steps in ResponseApp as mentioned below;
ResponseApp/Response IR App (Downloaded from APK) - Go to EnOcean node interface mode → “Prepare to unpair” or other preferable option would be “Reset to default“ from the same node interface menu if there is a possibility of more than one switches to have been paired with this node.
