3.4. Enocean Wireless Wall Switch
3.4.1. Introduction
Organic response supports BLE (Bluetooth low energy) enabled and battery-less EnOcean wall switches to offer manual override. This EnOcean switch works on the principle of generating energy with every press of the button, which sends a BLE broadcast signal to OR sensor nodes. These self-powered wireless control switches are easy to install. They usually come as single or double rocker (please see the pictures below) switches and use energy from pushing the button to communicate wirelessly with OR sensor nodes.
3.4.2. Configuration
With the release of Feb 2024, the EnOcean switch configuration is no longer available in Organic Response IR app. Although you will see the EnOcean Wall Switch Setup option in the menu, clicking on it will directly take you to the OR Response app.
The configuration of an EnOcean switch can be done by using both android and iOS versions of the Response app. EnOcean switches can be configured to control, either a single luminaire or a group of luminaires depending upon the type of configuration. The wall switches can be configured through the app if your smart device supports NFC. So, if you want to configure the wall switch, you need to keep your device and wall switch back to back in such a way that the NFC module should be aligned in both devices and can transfer the configuration parameters to the switch.
The location of NFC module could varies in different mobiles so you may need to place your wall switch either at the top end , bottom end or middle part to enable the NFC communication.
As per the 2020.1.0 OR product release (minimum version 181 or higher), an EnOcean wall switch can support 3 modes of operation such as zone pairing, Switch ID pairing and One to One switch ID pairing. The below pictures will show you the UI images of the OR Response app in each cases, and screen changes while reading existing switch configuration.
3.4.3 Reading Current Configuration
This is how the Response App will show if you click on the ‘read’ button.
This is how the Response App will show if your mobile has read the existing configuration of EnOcean switch. Please remember to keep the switch back to back with your device as this reading and new configuration will be possible only through NFC. Once the switch is in the right position (based on the location of NFC module in your mobile), it will read the present configuration and you can see this mode.
3.4.4. Node Interface
This allows the node to store EnOcean switches that will be paired to specific sensor nodes.
