Chapter 9: Configuration - Change Logging
This topic serves as introduction to logging of information for when configuration parameters change also known as expanded or enhanced variable logging in OR system.
9.1 Introduction
The Organic Response solution with the 2021.2 release has now made the Response node capable of reporting an increased set of data to complement the existing historic and analytical data currently available in the Response Portal. This new reporting mechanism can help enhance the user experience for your Response Portal connected projects by,
Providing better insight into how the system has behaved in the past;
Using this data to trace configuration and operational changes for a given timeline;
Enabling more informed decisions for future configuration changes;
Kindly note as part of this release we have only introduced the capability in the Response node to capture this data, while in future these newly logged variables can become accessible via the Response Portal or the Response API.
9.2 Parameters
The Response node will expose certain parameters to be reported and logged in the Response Portal backend. These logged parameters however, are not currently being processed by the Response Portal. By default this feature will be disabled, however, it can be turned on upon request.
The list of these newly logged parameters include,
Zone
Personality
Max light level
Min Light level
Dwell time
Lowlight time
Daylight dimming
Burn-In Mode
Transmission Power
Motion sensitivity
Start up scene
Start up Mode
Wireless link status
Firmware version
9.3 How to Access Information
As part of this first iteration, these new parameters are not publicly available for access via the Response Portal. Please note that in the future when the Response Portal is made capable of handling these new parameters, then only Response nodes which have the 2021.2 release firmware (product version 4.4, or PIC v185) will be capable of reporting these parameters to the OR cloud. This function must also be explicitly turned on for mapped Response nodes where the data is required by the customer to be logged.
