9.11 New Map Node Menu

9.11.1 Introduction

As of Feb 2024 Response portal release a brand new menu is introduced in the Response portal where you can map /unmap nodes. While the conventional mapping methods are still accessible via the Response Node page. The primary difference it has from conventional method is that it allows mapping a device without IR dongle.

9.11.2 How It Works

When you open up the Response portal, you can see the ‘Map Nodes’ icon as highlighted in the below image. You can click on it to go to the specific page in Response portal.

Please note that this ‘Map Nodes’ page is accessible to anyone who has access to mapping in the Response Node page. Please click here to read more about the roles and permissions.

In this page, instead of adding blank nodes on the floor plan you will see all the unmapped nodes that reported through a gateway in this building. Which is why the page can be blank

  1. If there are no gateways added to the Response portal

  2. If all the gateways are powered off or offline in the buidling

  3. If no nodes are connected to the gateways

  4. If nodes/gateways or both are powered off

  5. If all the nodes are already mapped in the building

Therefore, when you plan to map in a new project using this page, it is important to ensure that the above conditions are first addressed and gateways has been online for at least 30 minutes. As soon as the nodes are connected to gateways, they send their status messages to the Response portal. This will cause the Response portal to compile a list of nodes that reported to it as shown in below image.

9.11.2.1 Drag & Drop Mapping

This process is designed to make mapping of nodes easier, effortless and less time consuming. You simply need to

  1. Attend the project

  2. Identify the right node from the list

  3. Establish where they are physically located in site or on the floor

  4. Click, drag & drop the respective node icon on the floor plan in the Response portal.

Please find the links below for sensor and Response Radio mapping using this process

9.11.2.2 The Unmapped Nodes List - Explained

The list contains some useful information as explained below

Node Address: Unique physical address of the node (in HEX). The same address is visible when you select it using OR express app.

Node Type : Represents the device type e.g. Sensor node (Response Node ) or Passive Node for Response Radio.

Gateway Name: This represents the gateway from which the unmapped node has received its last message. The name is given to the gateways at the time of adding them to the Response portal.

We recommend always given names to gateway based upon their installed location e.g. Level 2 East.

Blink Button: This would be useful to identify the Response Node locally by looking at the light level changing for its connected luminaires.

Please note that Blink button will be functional for Response Nodes with FW 190-26 onwards and above only.

Currently, Response Radios doesn’t support blink function through Response portal.

Draggable Nodes: This represents the unmapped node icon which you can click and drag to place them on the floor plan.
