2.0 Portal Commissioning an Installation

Preliminary: It is recommended to run the portal on a Google Chrome or a Safari browser. Kindly have these installed on devices or laptops you wish to use for portal commissioning.

Commissioning works for the portal can comprise of the following steps,

  1. Setting-up a building in portal

  2. Adding gateways to Portal Installation

  3. IP addressing on gateways – OPTIONAL

  4. Node Mapping

  5. ELMT Extension – Setting up Emergency Light Monitoring & Testing

  6. Setting up BLE Beacons

Due to the auto-forming nature of the mesh network, it is recommended that the network be powered up with a gateway in suitable position for at least 1-2 hours before commissioning work is to begin. Nodes automatically look for the gateways in vicinity. It is recommended to refer to gateway guide in early stages prior to installation of gateway to ensure optimum location. Avoid installation in closed cabinets & similar spaces that can deteriorate the RF communications.

Prior to any works following prerequisites should be completed.

  • Sensors installed as per the ORT Luminaire Integration Guide[1]

  • Gateways installed correctly[2],  powered and connected to network with internet access

  • You have site specific information i.e.

    • Electrical layout to place nodes on a floor plan

    • Gateway Serial Numbers as displayed on the back of the gateway.

    • Other site-specific requirements e.g. IP restrictions, installed conditions etc.

[1] If installing an OR2.5 solution – this includes mounting the Backpack unit. Refer to latest version of luminaire integration guide.
